After 35+ years in business Hillsdale Country Realty has joined the team of Copake Lake Realty Corp. This alliance of two well respected agencies brings together increased services to both sellers and buyers. Copake Lake Realty Corp. will now have a branch office in the same location where Hillsdale Country Realty has been located throughout these years. Mary Lou Kersten, Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker, will handle activities in the Hillsdale branch office and will be working with Lindsay LeBrecht Licensed Real Estate Broker and principal broker and other seasoned professional agents.

Mary Lou Kersten, Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker

Counting 30 years of real estate experience in listing and selling properties throughout Columbia County, Mary Lou has an in depth understanding of the area, its market, towns, villages, byways and highways. She has contributed years to community service on several Hillsdale Town boards and committees as well as volunteer and board work for the Roe Jan Community Library and Habitat for Humanity.  She is currently active on Hillsdale’s Safe At Home committee whose purpose is to help seniors age at home.   Because of her local knowledge she is able to introduce her clients to the community.

Professionally Mary Lou has served for years in various board capacities for the Columbia Greene Board of Realtors and MLS. She was the recipient of the Columbia Greene Realtor of the Year award for two consecutive years and was selected to the REALTORS Honor Society by the New York State Association of Realtors. She is currently serving on the board for the Columbia Greene Board of Realtors and is a member of the Professional Standards Committee.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison and with her Wisconsin background, Mary Lou still roots for the Green Bay Packers.  She and her husband Chris live in Hillsdale in the same 1804 farmhouse they purchased over 30 years ago.

Chris also has his real estate license. Although retired, he is nearly a full time volunteer active in several community organizations and is currently the Vice President for Columbia County Habitat for Humanity.
